Riverside Military wins 100, 200 and 400-meter dash

Marlin Veazie won the 100-meter dash for the Riverside Military Academy track team Tuesday to lead the Eagles to a second-place finish in a quad-meet with Greene County and Prince Avenue at Oglethorpe County.

Steven Pulhar won the 200-meter dash for Riverside.

Justin Martin won the 400-meter dash and finished second to Pulhar in the 200-meter while Hyung Oh won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.

Bill McCoy won the triple jump and finished second in the high jump while Tarvin Dukes won the discus and finished third in the shot put.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Veazie, Pulhar, Cole Tudor and McCoy finished second, as did the 4x400-meter relay team of Pulhar, Oh, Fernando Weiner and Zach Anderson.

Riverside plays host to another meet at 4:30 p.m. April 23 with teams to be announced.

Baseball

GILMER 6, EAST HALL 5 (WEDNESDAY):
With six runs in the final two innings of play, the Bobcats won in Rabbittown.

East Hall pitcher Drew Adams threw five shutout innings while going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run scored.

East Hall (3-17, 2-11 Region 7B-AAA) also had eight stolen bases on the night. The Vikings visit Flowery Branch (2-17, 2-11 Region 7B-AAA) at 5:55 p.m. today.

Golf

GAINESVILLE BOYS 313, JOHNSON 320: Parks Brown and Pep Brown each carded a 77 to lead the Red Elephants to the win Thursday at Chattahoochee.

Will Frankum shot a 78 and Matt Cindea fired an 82 for Gainesville.

Scorers for Johnson were Grant Cagle (77), Michael Dunham (79), Eric Bohn (81) and Josh Foster (83).

Both teams return to action in the Region 7-AAA championships Wednesday at Achasta.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 169, ARCHER 203:
Low-medalist Eric Little carded a 38 in the win Thursday at Chicopee Woods.

Kameron Williams shot a 39, Alex Gossett fired a 44 and Garrett Gentry carded a 47 for Flowery Branch, which returns to action in the Region 7-AAA championships Wednesday at Achasta.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 103, LUMPKIN COUNTY 120: With a score of 50 from Ansley Chester and a 53 from senior Hope West, the Lady Trojans won Thursday at Achasta.

Scorers for Lumpkin County were Taylor Gooch with a 59 and Hannah Fowler with a 61.

Both teams return to action in the Region 7-AAA championships Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

NORTH HALL BOYS 3.5, GAINESVILLE 2.5 (WEDNESDAY): The Trojans won the Principal’s Cup on Wednesday at Chattahoochee.

The teams of Landry Haynes/Jimmy Lloyd, Andy Bracewell/Ryan Matthews and Bracewell/Ross Ward combined to win three matches and tie a fourth.

Gainesville’s teams of Will Frankum/Matt Cindea, Parks Brown/Pep Brown and Carson Brown/Andrew Reece combined to win two matches and tie a third.

Both teams return to action in the Region 7-AAA championships Wednesday at Achasta.

Soccer

WHITE COUNTY 3, GILMER 0:
Brie Ballinger scored a goal with an assist in the win Thursday in Cleveland.

Kaitlyn Hooper and Savannah Castles each scored for White County (6-9).

Megan Runkle had the shutout in goal for White County, which visits Lumpkin County at 5 p.m. today.

TRINITY GIRLS 2, NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 1 (GAME 1): Jordan Ball scored the Lady Chargers’ only goal during regulation Thursday.

North Georgia lost the game in penalty kicks.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 2, TRINITY CHRISTIAN 1 (GAME 2):
Victoria Gallagher converted a penalty kick to earn the win for the Lady Chargers (7-3).

Brittany White scored during regulation for North Georgia, which returns to action against Crown Athletics at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 3, MT. PISGAH 1 (WEDNESDAY): Liz Kenny scored a goal and added an assist in the win Wednesday in Gainesville. Megan Rochester and Elise Biegler each scored one goal for the Lady Lions, who play host to Dawson County at 5 p.m. today.
