With a scored of 163, the Lumpkin County boys golf team won the Border Challenge against Johnson and North Forsyth on Monday at Hampton Golf Village in Cumming.
The three-match event began at Royal Lakes on March 18 where Lumpkin County carded a team score of 152. Johnson shot at 154 and North Forsyth shot a 167 in the first leg.
The second match of the challenge was held March 25 at Achasta in Dahlonega.
Lumpkin County carded a 153 there to bring their two-match total to 305. Johnson shot a 164 (two-day total of 318) and North Forsyth fired a 158 (325).
In Monday’s third leg, Lumpkin County was led by low-medalist Aaron George with a 35. George combined with Austin Booker’s 41, Everett Huntsinger’s 42 and Joseph Jerrard’s 45 to bring Lumpkin Co.’s three-day total to 466.
Scorers for Johnson were Grant Cagle (39), Josh Foster (38), Kevin Bohn (42) and Clint Reeves (43).
Johnson finished with a three-match total of 480 and North Forsyth finished with a 494.
Lumpkin County plays host to the Region 7-AAA tournament which begins on Wednesday at Achasta.
WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 87, WEST FORSYTH 92, LUMPKIN COUNTY 106: Chelsea Ash carded a 43 and Kathryn Whittaker shot a 44 to lead the Warriors to the win Monday at Mossy Creek.
Scorers for Lumpkin County were Morgan Wood (48) and Taylor Gooch (58).
White County returns to action today at Mossy Creek.
JOHNSON 7, WEST HALL 6: Win Griffith earned the win on the mound and Logan Pethel earned the save in an eight-inning game on Monday at West Hall.
Chris White had three hits and Ryan Farmer had two for the Knights (11-8, 8-4 Region 7B-AAA).

OCONEE COUNTY 17, JEFFERSON 5: Drew Carson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a home run in the loss Monday in Watkinsville.
Jamie Sexton went 2-for-3 for the Dragons (14-3, 11-1 Region 8-AA).
Lucas Redd went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Andrew Bartek went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a double for Jefferson which plays host to Oglethorpe County at 5:30 p.m. today.

Hayden Cummins went 2-for-4 and Bo Medlock picked up the save for the Warriors who visit Flowery Branch at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.
WEST FORSYTH 4, FLOWERY BRANCH 3: Despite three hits from Robbie Boudreau, the Falcons lost a close game at West Forsyth on Monday.

CHESTATEE 11, PICKENS 3: Kevin Clifford pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to lead the War Eagles to the win Monday at home.
