High school football: Class AAAA has new No. 1

ATLANTA — With Marist's embarrassing 38-0 shutout over former No. 1 Tucker, Class AAAA welcomes Westside-Macon as its new leader in this weeks Associated Press high school football poll.

No. 3 Marist jumps four places as No. 8 Tucker falls seven. No. 2 Stateboro edges up one slot as does No. 7 Chamblee. No. 9 Mays and No. 10 Rome flip-flopped.

Class AA says goodbye to Henry County and Chattooga, and hello to No. 9 Appling County. No. 2 Fitgerald, No. 3 Pepperell, No. 5 Jefferson County, and No. 6 Dublin each move up one position. No. 7 Charlton County drops five places and No. 10 Laney moves down one. Buford continues on top.

Appling County earned its spot with a 14-7 win over Charlton County on Friday.

The leading three continue in Class A with Emanuel County Institute on top while Nos. 4-8 advance one position. No. 9 Twiggs County slips five places as Savannah Christian Prep exits and makes room for Bremen to enter the rankings at No. 10.

Nine out of ten spots remain the same in Class AAAAA with Valdosta exiting and Etowah entering the ranks claiming its No. 10 slot.

The only change in Class AAA is a No. 8 Carrollton and No. 9 Carver-Columbus flip-flopped.
