High school cross country: North Hall's Jones, Wagner claim individual titles

North Hall senior Andrew Jones dominated the field, running a first-place time of 15-minutes, 33-seconds at the Region 7-3A championship on Thursday at Unicoi State Park in Helen. In the girls' race, North Hall's Caylee Wagner also placed first overall, running a time of 19:02. 

The Lady Trojans won the team championship with three of the top 10 individual finishers. For North Hall, Abi Moore took third overall (21:02) and Makayla Jones earned sixth place (21:45). 

Cherokee Bluff took second place in the boys race and third in the girls race to both lock up a spot to the state championship meet. 

For Cherokee Bluff's boys, Kyle Boyd took fourth overall (17:20) and Ben Casteel was 10th (18:05).

Adison Myers was second overall for the Lady Bears (20:26).

The Class 3A state championship race is at 9 a.m. Nov. 6 in Carrollton.
