The fourth-seeded girls tennis team from Region 7B-AAA, Johnson, defeated the top seed from Region 7A-AAA, Creekview, 3-1, in the quarterfinals of the Region 7-AAA tournament Wednesday at the Alberta Banks Park.
With the win, the Lady Knights advance to the semifinals where they will face West Forsyth at 10 a.m. today at Bobby Bailey Tennis Center.
Flowery Branch won its quarterfinal match against Pickens, 3-0, to set up a semifinal match against the top-seeded from Region 7B-AAA, Lambert, at 10 a.m. today at Bobby Bailey.
In other quarterfinals matches, North Hall lost to West Forysth, 3-0, and Chestatee lost to Lambert 3-0.
In the second round, played earlier Wednesday, Johnson defeated Lumpkin County, North Hall defeated East Hall, Chestatee defeated Gainesville, and Flowery Branch defeated Gilmer.
