Gainesville High senior Spencer Ralston is now tied for 37th place after shooting a 1-over par 73 in Friday’s second round of the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, S.C. After two rounds, the Red Elephant stands at 7-over par.

The University of Georgia signee even got to meet Tiger Woods, winner of 14 professional major golf championships, who watched Friday as Ralston teed off with the rest of his group on No. 1.

On Monday, Ralston secured a Region 8-AAAAA individual title by shooting a 4-under par 68 at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. The Red Elephants won the team region championship with a 287.

This season, Ralston has won a pair of individual tournaments with a 64. He shot 7 under to win the Warrior Invitational March 26 at Mossy Creek in Cleveland, then an 8 under on April 15 to win at Achasta in Dahlonega.

Gainesville’s boys will take part in the Class AAAAA state championship May 16 in Evans.
