Gainesville High junior linebacker A.J. Johnson put an end to his recruitment and gave a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee on Wednesday.
Volunteers coach Lane Kiffin got the call from Johnson after Wednesday's practice with his decision. Tennessee recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron was in person at Gainesville practice on Wednesday.
Johnson was at Tennessee's campus for its game against Georgia last Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. He says through his visits that Tennessee stood out above the rest. "I really like the Tennessee coaching staff and I know they'll be there all four years that I'm there," Johnson said.
Johnson says that his decision is a solid verbal commitment but is still open to taking more campus visits. He has no other trips planned at this time.
