Gainesville High point guard Luke Maddox has been dismissed from the boys basketball program following an arrest on campus for possession of marijuana. The misdemeanor arrest was made Feb. 4 following a search of school grounds, according to Gainesville police spokesman corporal Kevin Holbrook. The fifth-ranked Red Elephants (24-2) played without the senior Wednesday night, when they defeated Salem 58-57 in the Region 8-AAAAA quarterfinals at Gainesville High and secured a spot in the Class AAAAA state tournament.
