Gainesville girls, North Hall boys golf earn trip to state tournaments

The Gainesville girls golf team qualified for the state playoffs for the eighth time in the last nine seasons. 

Gainesville finished in second behind Ware County Monday in the Class AAAAA sectional golf tournament at Heron Bay Country Club in Locust Grove.

The Lady Red Elephants (163) shot their lowest score of the season behind strong efforts from Ashleigh Bishop, Julianna Towns and Arianna Lunsford.

Gainesville will play in the state tournament at the West Lake Country Club May 16 in Augusta. The team next plays Wednesday against West Hall at Royal Lakes Country Club.

NORTH HALL FINISHES IN FIRST PLACE AT CLASS AAAA BOYS SECTIONALS: The North Hall boys golf team earned a spot in the Class AAAA state tournament by finishing first in sectionals play on Monday.

The Trojans (302) were led by Michael Kallab (73), Brennan Manson (74), Bartley Forrester (76), Cord Sanford (79), CJ Chester (98) and Lance Clark (101).

Carrollton, St. Pius X, Heritage (Catoosa), Buford, Pickens, Northwest Whitfield and Walnut Grove will also advance to the state tournament, to be held May 16 at Jones Creek Golf Club in Evans.
