Gainesville will have a chance to win the Lanierland tournament championship on its home court.

The Red Elephants earned a spot in the title game by dominating Lakeview Academy 104-67. Coach Benjie Wood’s squad led by double digits for most of the night thanks to big contributions from several different players.

Gainesville (12-0) jumped out to a 43-19 lead in the second half, taking advantage of constant defensive pressure to score frequently in transition. A sudden 9-0 Lions run was short-lived after the Red Elephants quickly stretched their lead to 20 points.

Juniors Xavier Bledson (16 points) and Bailey Minor (20) hit 3-pointers on Gainesville’s first two possessions after halftime, and the rout was on.

The Red Elephants led by as many as 35 points in the second half. Senior guard Michael White scored 17 points, and three other Gainesville players scored at least nine. Sophomore forward Jarred Rosser ignited the crowd late in the third quarter with a dunk on alley-oop pass from junior guard Austin Long.

Senior forward Josh Randolph led Lakeview (7-4) with 15 points, and classmate Tre Gober followed up with 14 points.

No. 8 seed Gainesville will attempt to win its first Lanierland title since 2011 when it takes on No. 2 seed East Hall at 8 p.m. Friday. No. 5 seed Lakeview is set to play No. 3 seed North Hall in the third-place game at 5 p.m.
