Football scoreboard: Riverside edges Union County, 28-27

Riverside Military Academy quarterback Lucas Bersin was 8-for-15 passing for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns and rushed 27 times for 97 yards and a touchdown to lead the Eagles to a 28-27 win over Union County on Friday night in Blairsville.

With the win, Riverside is in a three-way tie with the Panthers (5-4, 4-4) and Fannin County for the fourth seat of the Region 8-AA playoffs.“The win put us back in the running for that fourth place seat,” said coach Scot Sloan.

“The tie-breaker is head-to-head and we beat Fannin and Union so we would get that spot, but we’ve still got to win next week.”

Cole Tudor rushed 22 times for 64 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles, senior Brian Kerekes had a 42-yard scoring reception from Berson who also found Brandon McKinney for the game-winning touchdown.

Riverside (4-5, 4-4) plays host to Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Gainesville.

COMMERCE 42, SOCIAL CIRCLE 14
Cody Streetman rushed for two touchdowns and hit Carl Allen for another to lead the Tigers to the win at Stephens Park in Social Circle.

Senior Deon Brock rushed 15 times for 126 yards and a touchdown for Commerce (5-4, 4-1 Region 8-A), John Cash rushed for 106 yards off of 17 carries and a touchdown and Jessie Savage led the way on the defense with a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Tigers play host to Prince Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Commerce.

WHITE COUNTY 49, PICKENS 7
Freshman quarterback Cole Seagraves went 9-for-10 passing for 172 yards and a trio of touchdowns, and rushed 10 times for 40 yards and a touchdown to lead the Warriors to the win in Cleveland.

Ashley Lowery rushed seven times for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and scored on a 67-yard punt return for White County, Tyler Dotson had three receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown, Cam Seagraves, brother of Cole, had two receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown and Ethan McCallister had a reception for 40 yards and a touchdown.

The Warriors (6-3, 3-2 Region 7A-AAA) visit Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Ellijay.

OGLETHORPE COUNTY 28, BANKS COUNTY 12
Clay Frink had 11 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown to lead the Leopards in a home loss.

Banks County had 238 total offensive yards to Oglethorpe’s 190, but was unable to capitalize to get the win.

The Leopards (2-7, 2-6 Region 8-AA) play host to Union County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.

OCONEE COUNTY 20, JACKSON COUNTY 0
Zane Cochran had 141 total offensive yards in the loss against the Warriors on Friday in Watkinsville.
Quarterback Jalen Banks was 21-for-32 passing for 117 yards for Jackson County.

The Warriors (3-6, 0-6 Region 8-AAA) visit Stephens County at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Toccoa.
