CONYERS — Kevin Ellison scored on a 1-yard run with 37 seconds left to play to lift the Habersham Central football team to a 13-12 victory over Heritage on Friday night. 

Ellison led Habersham Central (1-1) with 85 yards on the ground and a 31-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Raiders quarterback Austin Brown was 14-for-21 passing for 141 yards. Habersham Central’s Chuck Rueber caught eight passes for 104 yards.

Habersham Central visits Clarke Central at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Athens.

COMMERCE 34, MORGAN COUNTY 14
Tigers running back Deon Brock ran for 188 and was on the receiving end of a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Streetman Friday night in Commerce.

Streetman also hit Carl Allen for a 22-yard touchdown pass. Commerce’s (1-1) Jon Cash had 10 carries for 58 yards. Tigers senior Casey Drinkard led the defense with nine tackles.

Commerce visits Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Carnesville.

UNION COUNTY 27, RABUN COUNTY 13
Panthers quarterback Kolt Owenby had 210 yards passing and a touchdown Friday in Blairsville. Union County (2-0) senior Blake Gowder rushed for 48 yards and had four receptions for 152 yards.

Union County visits North Oconee next week at 7:30 p.m. in Bogart.

COVENANT CHRISTIAN 45, NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 0
Zach Pendley led North Georgia Christian Academy’s defense with a pair of interceptions and eight tackles Friday night in Loganville.

Joe Boonstra led North Georgia Christian (0-2) with 65 yards on the ground.

North Georgia Christian plays host to Ballard Christian at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Ellijay.

NORTH OCONEE 34, OGLETHORPE 16
Despite 20 penalties for 165 yards, the Titans were able to score the win Friday in Athens.

Brandon Whitlock led North Oconee with 151 yards on the ground and three touchdown. Jesse Webb had one touchdown on the night against the Patriots.

North Oconee plays host to Union County next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Bogart.
