The Flowery Branch High football team boarded its bus for LaGrange today to cheers from the school's students and fans.

The Falcons (11-2) play at LaGrange (11-2) at 7:30 tonight in the Class AAA state semifinal. Tonight's winner will play for the state championship Dec. 13 in the Georgia Dome.

Flowery Branch has beaten three straight playoff foes on the road and is looking to make it four in a row tonight, with a strong contingent of local fans expected to help fill Callaway Stadium.

"Walk, bike or drive, people are going to find a way to be there," Athletics director Shannon Benton said Thursday. "We have a great following for our football team here at Flowery Branch."

Falcon fans came out in force for the team's first three state playoff games, cheering the team to victories at Stephens County, Ridgeland and Baldwin. Two charter buses will carrry them on the 120-mile trip to LaGrange today.

Earlier in the day, the school held a pep rally to get the Falcons pumped up for their first-ever state semifinal game.

Also tonight, No. 1-ranked Buford (13-0) will play host to Fitzgerald (11-2) at Tom Riden Stadium for a berth in the Class AA title game next Friday at the Dome.
