East Hall girls knock off Centennial

The top-ranked East Hall girls basketball squeezed past Centennial with a 45-40 win Tuesday night in the annual Pope High School Thanksgiving Tournament.

University of South Carolina signee Sada Wheeler led the Lady Vikings in their second game of the season with 27 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.

East Hall plays Pope in the tournament finals Saturday.

Hiawasse Dam (N.C.) 64,Banks County 57

The Lady Leopards fell behind 19-3 early during Tuesday’s game in the Towns County tournament and were never able to recover.

Led by Lauren Kennedy (14 points) and Lacey Saxon (13 points), Banks County (0-2) trimmed the Hiawassee Dam lead to three points on several occasions, but couldn’t overcome the Lady Eagles’ advantage at the free throw line.

Banks County returns to action Nov. 30 at Commerce.

Lumpkin County 72,
Athens Christian 50

Kara Malone and Lacey Wallingford both poured in 16 points a piece to lead the Lady Indians in the consolation game of the Tip Off Tournament in Cleveland on Tuesday night.

Ashley Brown and Kayna Clemons added 11 points each for Lumpkin County (1-1), while Maggie Kenimer finished with seven points.

The Lady Indians visit West Hall next Tuesday.

Pope 58,
Chestatee 27

Freshman forward Peyton Roberston and sophomore Chelsea Wilson led the Lady War Eagles Tuesday night with six points each in the annual Pope High School Thanksgiving Tournament.

Megan Wilbanks added four points for Chestatee, and Erica Lackey and Morgan Dooley added four points a piece.

Chestatee resumes play at 3 p.m. Saturday against Centennial.

Shekeria Cooper led the Lady Knights with 15 points in the Jackson County Thanksgiving tournament Tuesday night.

Jackson County 44

Sidney Seits led the Lady Raiders with 13 points Tuesday night in the Jackson County Thanksgiving tournament at Jackson County High. Ashley Skelton led Jackson County with 15 points.

Lakeview Academy 70,
Providence 69

Senior guard David Pruett poured in 30 points to lead the Lions on Tuesday night in Lilburn.

Lakeview’s (1-0) Brett Armour added 10 points, and Tyler Ward finished the game with eight for the Lions.

Lakeview plays host to Union County at 6 p.m. next Tuesday.

Johnson 84,
Dawson County 75

Senior Brandon Sloan led the Knights with 24 points in the championship game of the Jackson County Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Robert Taylor, a senior, added 21 points for Johnson.

The Knights play host to Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oakwood.
