The top-ranked Dawson County girls basketball team saw their perfect season come to an end with a 70-64 loss to second-ranked Laney in the Class AAA state quarterfinals on Tuesday in Augusta. Dawson County’s season is complete, while Laney advances to face Kendrick in the Class AAA state semifinals on Saturday at Columbus State University in Columbus. The Lady Tigers (29-1) pulled ahead 18-14 at the end of the opening period and led 33-26 at halftime before being outscored 20-10 in the third period.
