Region 7-AAA will be expanding by one next fall after the Georgia High School Association reclassification committee approved Creekview’s request to join the league Monday.

Buford, on the other hand will be staying put, after its request to move to 8-AA was denied. The Wolves had sought a move out of Atlanta-based 6-AA.

Creekview, based in Canton, currently competes in Region 6-AA in most sports and was slated to compete in Region 6-AAA after GHSA’s intial 2008-2010 reclassification.

During the first two years of its existence, the softball team has been the school’s most successful, reaching the Class AA state playoffs in each of the past two seasons. The volleyball team also qualified for the Class A/AA postseason this fall.

In basketball, the boys team is 6-5 in the current season after going winless in 6-AA last season, while the girls are 3-7 so far this year.

The Grizzlies have compiled a 16-4 mark in non-region football competition during the last two seasons.
