The two-time defending champion Buford softball team is ranked first in Class AA in a GaPrepCountry.com preseason poll released Wednesday.
The Lady Wolves enter the 2009 season No. 1 after finishing 34-2-1 last year, winning their second straight state title along the way.
Union County also cracked the top 10 in Class AA, ranked ninth.
Other top-ranked teams are Eagles Landing Christian (Class A), Oconee County (Class AAA), Whitewater (Class AAAA) and Greenbrier (Class AAAAA)
