The Buford boys cross country team qualified for next Saturday’s state meet by beating Greater Atlanta Christian by just two points Saturday in the Region 6-AA meet at Westminster.
Matt Johnson, with a time of 19 minutes, three seconds, led Buford to fourth place in the region standings by finishing 14th.
Westminster (19 points), Lovett (65 points) and Blessed Trinity (76 points) finished as the region’s top three in the meet.
Rounding out the individual state qualifiers from Buford were Dylan Price, Alex Oliver, Lane Hodnett, Derek Gravitt, Alex Hudgins and James Dugas.
On the girls side, the Buford girls finished fifth, just out of state contention.
The Lady Wolves were led by Dottie Kellogg (21:07), who finished ninth in the region and was the only state qualifier from the team.
The boys and girls state meets will begin at 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively next Saturday in Carrollton.
