Area wrestling powers, 14 in all, are converging on Gainesville High for the annual Big Red Rumble starting today. Gainesville, East Hall, North Hall, Chestatee, Flowery Branch, Buford, Johnson, Greater Atlanta Christian, Hill Grove and Grayson are all taking part in this year’s Big Red Rumble.

Hall County school’s consider this event a way of tuning up for the Hall County Duals that take place on Jan. 3-4 at Chestatee High.

"Traditionally, this is one of the more competitive tournaments," Chestatee coach Tim Garner said.

The format of the Big Red Rumble is a double-elimination format. Wrestling is held for third and fourth place, but not for fifth and sixth place.

Team trophies are awarded to the top three teams. Team scores are compiled by advancement points, bonus points and placing points.

The Area 7-AAA Duals are Feb 15 and 16 at Gilmer.
