Luis Gonzalez finished with a time of 16 minutes, 2 seconds to win the state championship at the USATF Georgia Association Junior Olympics Cross Country Champioships on Saturday in Peachtree City.

Gonzalez’s high school teammate Cody Barger and West Hall’s Josh Pendley finished second and third to lead the young men’s team to a state title, while Victoria Rogers and Ansley Lawson, also from North Hall, finished third in their divisions.

Dawson County’s Maddie Walters and Gainesville’s Sara Hayes both placed second in their respective races. Gainesville High’s Marcquel Wooward finished fifth in his race.
