High school volleyball scoreboard: Chestatee sweeps tri-match

Chestatee picked up a pair of wins in a tri-match against Habersham Central and Forsyth Central. 

First, the Lady War Eagles swept Habersham Central 25-12, 25-23. Lindsey Bornhorst and Logan Wiggins had five kills each, while Nicole Sedwick contributed three in addition to her eight digs. Sophie Davis led the team with 11 digs.

Chestatee then went on to beat Forsyth Central in three sets (21-25, 25-20, 25-17). 

Sedwick and Bornhorst were the leaders offensively with seven kills each, while Bornhorst added six blocks. Davis was once again the team’s most effective defensive player with 13 digs.

GAINESVILLE BEATS DAWSON COUNTY: The Lady Red Elephants beat Dawson county in straight sets on senior night, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15, to move to 12-16 and 3-3 in region. Gainesville was led by a trio of senior playmakers — Emily Sloan, Olivia Gettys and Anna Grace Worley — who combined for nine kills, seven blocks and 14 digs. Lauren Ware added four aces and 11 digs, while Ansley Turner contributed nine kills in the win. 

The Lady Red Elephants will continue region play next Tuesday with a tri-match against Habersham Central and Lanier.

FLOWERY BRANCH DEFEATS LUMPKIN COUNTY: Flowery Branch completed a season sweep Thursday night over Lumpkin County with a straight-set win over the Indians, 25-9, 25-15, and 25-18.  The Lady Falcons were led by seniors Oriah Ware who produced 32 assists, Pheobe Hammond who struck six aces and Maria Escudero with 11 digs.  Junior Katie Williams led the team with 15 kills.

Flowery Branch will travel to West Hall on Tuesday to take on West Hall and Denmark in conference play.
