High school volleyball: Lanier Christian Academy falls short in state title match

The Lanier Christian Academy volleyball team concluded its season Saturday during the GICAA tournament at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland. The Lightning fell short of a state championship, losing in four contested sets to Konos Academy (23-25, 22-25, 26-24, 14-25) in the final.

The Lightning (20-16) attack was paced by Julia Sprague, who fired 14 kills and nine service aces. Senior classmate Maddie Basile (12 kills, 13 digs) was another to produce double-digit kills, followed by freshman Brianna Moore (24 assists, six digs) with eight. Lanier Christian also got a strong defensive performance by freshman Reagin Clack, who extended rallies with a team-high 27 digs.

Lanier Christian swept Central Georgia  Arts — 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 — Saturday morning to secure a spot in the championship.
