High school volleyball: Gainesville sweeps Douglas County to open Class 6A state playoffs

The Gainesville High volleyball program earned a first-round sweep of Douglas County (25-13, 25-16, 25-19) on Saturday to open the Class 6A state playoffs Saturday in Acworth.

For the Red Elephants, Ansley Turner had 17 kills and three digs, while Camille Calkins had three aces and eight kills. 

Camille Holcomb finished with 23 assists for Gainesville, while Emily Sloan had four kills. 

Isabella Appling chipped in four digs for the Red Elephants, while Isabella Garrish had 15 assists.

With the win, Gainesville will face Allatoona on Wednesday in Acworth.
