High school softball: East Hall tops Cherokee Bluff, 12-0, in region play

Macy Banks recorded nine strikeouts in East Hall’s 12-0 win against Cherokee Bluff on Tuesday. The Lady Vikings’ (14-9, 11-0 Region 7-3A) win gives them the No. 1 seed in the Region 7-3A tournament. In the sixth inning, Kaitlyn Daniel had a homer for East Hall as part of a seven-run inning. Also driving in runs for the Lady Vikings were Gracie Smith, Banks, Abigail Brown and Calli Hardison. East Hall hosts region foe North Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville to end the regular season.

CHESTATEE 11, DENMARK 0: Elizabeth Eddins racked up 12 strikeouts for Chestatee in a Region 7-4A match up on Tuesday in Alpharetta. Katie Palmieri was 3 for 4 at the plate and drove in four runs for the Lady War Eagles (8-13, 5-6 region 7-4A). Katilyn Babb had three RBIs for Chestatee. The Lady War Eagles piled on five runs in the second inning, which was led by a single by Palmieri, and a double by Babb.

Chestatee ends the regular season against Denmark at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville.

BUFORD 10, CLARKE CENTRAL 1: Ansleigh Hollifield recorded 10 strikeouts against Clarke Central on Tuesday in Athens. Katie Perkins was 2 for 2 at the plate with three RBIs for the Lady Wolves (11-8, 3-2 Region 8-5A). Abbi Perkins finished the night hitting 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI for Buford. Mariah Wicker was 2 for 3 and stole two bases for the Lady Wolves. Buford will go into the region tournament as the No. 3 seed.

Buford plays Collins Hill at 5:30 p.m. today in Suwanee.
