High school basketball scoreboard: Lakeview Academy boys roll into second round of state playoffs

Drew Cottrell scored 22 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Lakeview Academy boys basketball team cruised to an 85-49 win against Landmark Christian in the first round of the Class A Private playoffs on Friday in Gainesville. 

With the win, the Lions (21-7) will face Holy Innocents in the second round next week in Atlanta. 

Also for Lakeview Academy, Evan Pitts scored a game-high 24 points with seven rebounds. Arturo Varela chipped in 14 points with nine rebounds.

GALLOWAY GIRLS 67, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 47: Tori Taylor had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Lions in the first round of the Class A Private playoff bracket Friday in Gainesville. 

Savannah Kinsey had 13 points with three rebounds for Lakeview Academy (17-10).

BUFORD GIRLS 75, KELL 24: Buford’s Tory Ozment led the defending Class 5A state champions to the second round of the playoffs, posting 20 points Friday at the Buford City Arena. Tate Walters scored nine points for Buford.

The Lady Wolves will host Maynard Jackson on Wednesday in the second round at the Buford City Arena.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 52, PEPPERELL 30: Allison Smith had a double-double performance with 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Leopards in the Class 2A playoff opener Friday in Homer. 

With the win, Banks County faces the winner of KIPP Atlanta/Heard County in the second round. 

Amber Williams posted 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Banks County. Maddie Thomas contributed 10 points for the night for the Lady Leopards.
