High school basketball scoreboard: Gwyn leads Chestatee boys to 83-66 victory

Cameron Gwyn posted 24 points to the lead the Chestatee High boys basketball team to an 83-66 win against Jackson County on Thursday.

Nick Lyles had 13 points and Donovan Hernandez added 10 for the War Eagles (4-7), who assisted on 23 baskets in the win.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 66, WALKER 25: Tori Taylor led the way with 19 points as the Lady Lions (4-4) earned a win Thursday at the Providence Christian Christmas Tournament in Lilburn.

Lakeview Academy’s Sadie Thrailkill contributed 16 points. The Lady Lions continue tournament play at 1 p.m. today.

EAST HALL GIRLS 76, BOOKER T. WASHINGTON 42: Tessa Rider led East Hall with 16 points on Thursday in the War Lodge Invitational at Sequoyah High in Canton. Carly Winters had 14 points for the Lady Vikings (4-5, 1-1 Region 7-3A), while teammate Maggie Griffin finished the night with nine points.

East Hall plays Woodward Academy at 4:30 p.m. today in Canton.

EAST HALL BOYS 59, FREEDOM CHRISTIAN PREP 54: Luke Cooper dropped 17 points against Freedom Christian Prep (N.C.) on Thursday. Luke Holtzclaw registered 11 points for the Vikings, while teammate Kylan Curry had 10.

COLLINS HILL GIRLS 56, BUFORD 48: Tory Ozment notched 19 points as the Lady Wolves, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A by Score Atlanta, experienced their first loss of the season Thursday at the Hawks Naismith Classic in Norcross.

Audrey Weiner pitched in with 12 points for Buford, which faces Class 6A’s second-ranked Lovejoy on Jan. 2.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 49, APALACHEE 27: Allison Smith scored 17 points for Banks County. Jaycie Bowen had 15 points for the Lady Leopards (7-3).

Banks County faces North Hall at 7 p.m. today in Homer.

APALACHEE BOYS 84, BANKS COUNTY 65: Carl Cleveland had 22 points, six rebounds and three assists against Apalachee. 

Dylan Orr posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds while adding two assists and six blocks for the Leopards (9-2), who face North Hall today in Homer.
