High school basketball: Lakeview Academy boys win in 2OT at Julio Jones Kia Classic

Adam Cottrell had a team-high 35 points with five rebounds as the Lakeview Academy boys topped Maynard Jackson in two overtimes, 89-86, at the Julio Jones Kia Classic on Saturday in Smyrna. Trailing by three points with only seconds left in the first overtime, Cottrell nailed a 3-pointer to send the game into another extra frame.

Blake McIntyre had 22 points and five assists for the Lions (6-3), while Conley Millwood added 15 points and six rebounds. 

Arturo Varela had 13 points for Lakeview Academy. The Lions made 24 of 28 free throw attempts.

On Tuesday, Lakeview Academy faces Rabun Gap in Gainesville. 

CHESTATEE BOYS 58, NORTH HALL 56 (OT): Brenton Nicholson hit six 3-pointers on the night and made a big three-point play for the War Eagles in overtime on Saturday. Nicholson hit all six of his free throw attempts and finished the game with 28 points.

Cam Gwyn hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 for the War Eagles (9-3).

NORTH HALL GIRLS 48, CHESTATEE 33: Ansleigh Ferguson scored 20 points with 15 rebounds for the Lady Trojans. Also for North Hall, Grace Hollifield had eight points. 

On Monday, North Hall hosts Oconee County. 

CHEROKEE BLUFF 70, DREW 60: Griffin Neville scored 20 points and Corey Thomas had 17 for the Bears (5-4) on Saturday in Sugar Hill. Bosko Norman finished the game with 13 points for Cherokee Bluff.

On Thursday, Cherokee Bluff faces Chestatee for the Lanierland Tournament play-in game in Gainesville.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 78, RABUN COUNTY 63: Carl Cleveland had 34 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals for the Leopards (5-4, 2-0 Region 8-2A) on Saturday. Dakota Orr added 19 points and 13 boards for Banks County, while Wes Ledford had 11 points and eight rebounds. 

On Friday, Cleveland scored 38 points in a 69-42 win against Putnam County. 

On Tuesday, Banks County visits Monticello.

BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN GIRLS 37, LANIER CHRISTIAN 29: Lexie Robertson, Reece Montgomery and Madison Hughes each scored six points for the Lady Lightning on Saturday.
