The Gwinnett Gladiators signed forwards Ben Geelan and Carl Bresser for the 2008-09 season, according to an announcement on Friday.
Geelan joins the Gladiators after four years at Bowling Green State University, where he scored 11 goals and eight assists in 138 career games. He had three assists and 54 penalty minutes his senior year.
Before attending Bowling Green, Geeland played two years for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League, scoring 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 59 games.
Bresser comes to the Gladiators after completing his senior season at Marian University in Fon du Lac, Wis., where he led the Sabres in scoring with 35 points and was named to the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association All-Conference Team.
In 109 career collegiate games, Bresser scored 57 goals and 45 assists for 102 points, good for sixth all-time at Marian. His 12 shorthanded goals are also a school record, and he led all Division-III players with six shorthanded goals during the 2007-08 season.
The Gladiators open the 2008-09 season Oct. 18.
