ATLANTA — Paul Johnson's current Georgia Tech team will finally play his former Georgia Southern team.
Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich said Friday Georgia Tech will play Georgia Southern in football for the first time in 2015. The game will be played in Atlanta.
Johnson coached the Eagles for five years and won I-AA national championships in 1999 and 2000. He was an assistant coach at the school for four years.
Johnson said Georgia Southern "is a special place to me" and the game between the state schools "makes perfect sense."
Georgia and Georgia Southern have played four games, most recently last season in Athens.
