Flowery Branch grad Jaybo Shaw is among four Georgia Tech football players named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Football Team on Monday.

Shaw, a freshman quarterback, was one of four Yellow Jackets named to the team. He is joined by defensive tackle Darryl Richard, running back Roddy Jones and safety Cooper Taylor.

To be eligible for the team, players must have earned 3.0 grade point averaged from their previous semester and maintained a cumulative 3.0 GPA during their academic career.

All 12 ACC schools had at least one player fit this criteria.

Other notable players named to the team are Boston College’s Mark Herzlich, who is the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and Florida State safety Myron Rolle, who is a 2008 Rhodes Scholar.
