BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Senior Brigitte Ardossi scored 12 points to lead the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (3-1) to a 57-51 win over Seton Hall (3-3) Friday afternoon in the first round game of the LIU Turkey Classic at the Wellness, Recreation and athletic Center.

“This was a very good win against a Big East opponent on the road,” associate head coach Teri Moren said. “We got two big stops late in the game to seal the victory. It was nice to see a lot our players on the floor but especially nice to have Alex Montgomery back out there.”

A pair of Montgomery free throws with 11 seconds remaining sealed the victory for the Yellow Jackets. Montgomery, who has not played since tearing her ACL last March, entered the game with 11:52 remaining in the first half and finished with eight points and five rebounds in 11 minutes.

Ardossi finished with six rebounds to go with her team-high 12 points. Mo Bennett added 10 points in the victory.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game on a 24-4 run and did not allow a Pirate field goal until the 7:05 mark in the first half. They entered the lock room leading 33-19. Tech shot 42 percent from the field and more than doubled their season three-point basket output with five.

Seton Hall, who was down by as much 14 points at the half, held Tech to zero field goals over the final six minutes of the game to come within three points of the Jackets. The Pirates would not get any closer, being held scoreless over the final 2:30 minutes of the game.

The Yellow Jackets return to the Wellness, Recreation and Athletics Center at 4 p.m. today against host Long Island University in the championship game of the LIU Turkey Classic.
