According to a report on the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Web site, former Flowery Branch guard Zac Swansey has asked to be released from his scholarship from the University of Georgia.

Swansey, who played at Flowery Branch before transfering to Dunwoody, told ajc.com that he and fellow guard Troy Brewer filed for a release Monday.

"There was a lack of communication, big time," Swansey stated in an e-mail to the Web site.

The sophomore point guard started 17 of Georgia’s first 18 games this year, but his minutes were drastically cut as the season went on.

His 3-pointer during the semifinals of the 2008 SEC Championship propelled Georgia to the SEC title and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Brewer, also a sophomore, averaged 7.3 minutes for the Bulldogs this season.
