University of Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress has been named to the 2009 Golden Spikes Award watch list.

The award is given annually to the top college baseball player. Poythress has also been named Preseason All-American by Baseball America and Louisville Slugger.

In 2008, Poythress was the second Bulldog player in school history to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove, and hit .374 with 15 home runs and 75 RBIs.
