Georgia (10-4) converted 7-of-8 free throws in the final 43 seconds to hold off FIU (5-9) en route to a 70-65 victory in the consolation game of the FIU Fun & Sun Classic in Miami on Thursday.

“We were able to hit free throws when we needed them the most,” Andy Landers said.

All-Tournament selection Jasmine James scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists while playing all 40 minutes for the Lady Bulldogs. Khaalidah Miller added 14 points, while Porsha Phillips grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Jerica Coley and Rakia Rodgers scored 28 and 21 points, respectively, for FIU, including all but two of the Panthers’ 37 second-half points.

After leading by two at halftime, the Lady Bulldogs appeared to take control with an 18-3 run to open the second stanza. That put Georgia up 48-31 with 13:40 remaining.
