LOS ANGELES — Jasmine Hassell scored 16 of her 22 points in the first half while Porsha Phillips had 18 points and 11 rebounds to help No. 17 Georgia beat Denver 73-51 in the semifinals of the Westside Thanksgiving Classic on Friday.
Jasmine James added 17 points for the Bulldogs (4-1), who built up a double-digit lead midway through the first half and didn't look back.
Hassell played a big role in opening things up, scoring nine points during an 11-0 run that broke open a tie game and resulted in a 24-13 advantage.
Phillips took over with 10 of her points coming in the second half, while helping key a run of eight straight points for the Bulldogs. James made a 3-pointer to finish the spurt for her team's largest lead at 59-38 with 9:45 remaining.
The Pioneers got within 63-49 before Hassell made a layup to seal the win.
Britteni Rice finished with 12 points and Brianna Culberson had 10 for Denver (1-3).
