ATHENS — Tanner Strickland, who was listed as Georgia's starting left guard, will miss the 2009 season with a shoulder injury.

Tanner, a sophomore, will need surgery following an injury to his right shoulder in offseason workouts. Georgia director of sports medicine Ron Courson said Wednesday a full recovery is expected for Tanner.

Tanner was listed as Georgia's starting left guard on the team's preseason depth chart. The backup is junior Chris Davis, a Jefferson High graduate.

Strickland played in 13 games in 2008 on special teams and as a backup lineman after being redshirted in 2007.
