HOOVER, Ala. — Matt Cerione hit a grand slam and drove in five runs to lead Georgia to a 6-3 win over Mississippi Wednesday in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament.

Cerione's homer in the sixth inning gave the Bulldogs (36-20) a 4-1 lead over the Rebels (40-16), who won a share of the regular-season SEC title along with LSU.

Cerione added a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the Bulldogs' two-run seventh. Justin Grimm (3-4) got the win while Dean Weaver picked up his 10th save.

Kyle Henson had three hits and drove in a run for the Rebels. Ole Miss had broken a scoreless tie when Kevin Mort singled and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning. Then Cerione answered with his homer.

Georgia will face Arkansas and Ole Miss meets Florida on Thursday in an elimination game.
