ATHENS — Not so fast, Georgia.
The school distributed plaques to its senior football players at its annual awards gala in December with 7-6 inscribed as the team's record. The problem, though, was that the Bulldogs were 6-6 at the time.
Sure enough, the school had to take back the 23 plaques after the University of Central Florida defeated Georgia last week 10-6 at the Liberty Bowl.
It's not the first time the school has had to revise senior plaques, Bulldogs spokesman Claude Felton said. He said the team routinely includes a bowl victory in the record on the plaques during the annual gala, which is always held before the bowl game in December.
