ATLANTA — Georgia coach Mark Richt says freshman linebacker T.J. Stripling will need season-ending surgery after hurting his right knee in Saturday night's loss at Colorado.

Stripling, from Southwest Dekalb High School, suffered the injury covering a kickoff in the first quarter of the Bulldogs' 29-27 loss. He was carted off the field.

Richt also said Sunday sophomore cornerback Branden Smith is doubtful for this week's game against Tennessee after suffering a concussion in the game.
