John Cannon, a center from Burnsville, N.C., has signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at the University of Georgia, coach Mark Fox announced Monday.

Cannon, (6-foot-10, 225 pounds) averaged 21.9 points, 12.3 rebounds and 6.5 blocks per game in his most recently completed high school season.

"We're very excited to have John Cannon joining the Bulldog family," Fox said. "John has good size and good skills for a young big man. He understands the game extremely well and is an outstanding student."

Cannon is the fifth player to sign with Georgia in the 2010-11 class. The spring signing period ends May 18.
