University of Georgia juniors Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie have been named to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference basketball first team, as voted on by SEC and national media members.

In addition, Thompkins was voted the league’s preseason Player of the Year.

The Bulldogs received two first-place votes and garnered 72 points in the poll, which predicted they would finish third in the Eastern Division.

Florida (110 points, 13 first-place votes) and Kentucky (95 points, three first-place votes) were the top two and Tennessee, Vanderbilt and South Carolina completed the East.

Mississippi State, with 18 of 20 first-place votes, was the preseason favorite to win the Western Division, followed by Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and Auburn.

The Bulldogs began preseason practice Oct. 15 in preparation for their season opener, a Nov. 4 exhibition game against Augusta State.
