The Gainesville Travelers college summer baseball team has named Chad Stephens head coach for its 2009 season.

Stephens comes to the Travelers from Urbana College in Ohio, where he is an assistant coach and head of recruiting. He has been affiliated with the Herndon Braves of the Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate Baseball League and American Legion Post 139 in Arlington, Va., as well as high schools in his native Virginia. The Travelers begin their 2009 season in the Great South League on June 3 when they visit the Athens Pirates.
