Gainesville’s Morgan House narrowly missed his chance to represent the United States in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. He finished fourth in the one-person kayak, 500 meter finals (1 minute, 48.468 seconds), two spots behind fellow American Rami Zur (1:47.112) Saturday at the Flatwater Racing World Cup in Szeged, Hungary.

House made it to the finals and was competing exclusively with Zur for a spot on the U.S. Olympic squad. House, a member of the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club advanced to the finals race with a fourth place finish in the K-1 500 semifinals (1:45.265).

House has trained the past three years at the ARCO Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
