The Gainesville 10- and 11-year-old All-Stars defeated Murphy Candler Little League 8-2 in the Georgia State semifinals on Friday night at Murphy Candler Park in Atlanta.

Mikey Gonzalez recorded the complete game win with four strikeouts.

Sam Carpenter led Gainesville with three hits, including two doubles. Luke Maddox also had three hits, including a double and three runs scored, and Reeves Ralson was 2-for-3.

Gainesville (7-1), which advanced to the state tournament as the champions of District 10, will play for the Georgia State title at 10 a.m. today at Murphy Candler Park.
