G-Braves top Scranton, 3-1

Diory Hernandez drove in Joe Thurston on a triple for the go-ahead run in the ninth inning for the Gwinnett Braves in a 3-1 win against the Scranton -Wilkes Barre Yankees on Wednesday at PNC Park in Scranton, Penn. Later in the inning, Brandon Hicks drove in Hernandez.

Barbaro Canizares led Triple-A Gwinnett with two hits and an RBI at the plate. Jordan Schafer also added a hit for the G-Braves. Gwinnett starting pitcher Scott Diamond pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits and a run, and Cory Gearrin earned his first victory of the season.

Gwinnett faces Scranton-Wilkes Barre in the final game of the four-game series at 7 tonight.
