The Gwinnett Braves scored three runs in the first inning and defeated the Charlotte Knights, 4-3, on Sunday, winning their first series in the process.
Brandon Jones drove in Gregor Blanco to start the scoring, and Brooks Conrad followed with a two-run homer.
Charlotte scored twice in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 4-3 before Boone Logan relieved starter Charlie Morton and shut down the rally. Morton allowed one run and struck out 12 through six innings. The Braves return to action at 7 p.m. tonight at Durham.
