G-Braves stifle rally for 6-5 win

The Gwinnett Braves held on for a 6-5 win over the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field in Indianapolis on Monday.

The G-Braves held a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the ninth when the Indians rallied for a pair of runs. Stephen Marek ended the threat and earned his second save, coaxing a double play from Eric Kratz.

Gwinnett (20-24) remains in second place in the International League South, trailing Durham by five games.

Tim Gustafson earned the win on the mound, yielding six walks, but only one earned run in five innings. He aided his effort by going 2-for-3 with a home run at the plate.

G-Braves outfielder Mitch Jones added a three-run home run, while Matt Young went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jordan Schafer went 2-for-4 with a triple.

Gwinnett plays Indianapolis in the final game of the series at 7:05 tonight. Chris Resop will get the start for the G-Braves.
