G-Braves split doubleheader

Gregor Blanco hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning and Diory Hernandez singled to score Blanco to lead the Gwinnett Braves to a 5-3 win over Buffalo during Game 2 of a doubleheader Friday in Buffalo.

The G-Braves (17-19) lost 6-5 in Game 1, where the Bisons scored five runs in the first inning..

Fernando Martinez and Javier Valentin each had home runs for the Bison (9-24) in the first inning, along with extra base hits from Angel Pagan and Mike Lamb.

The G-Braves rebounded with a two-run home run from Barbaro Canizares and an RBI single from Reid Gorecki that scored Van Pope in the third. Hernandez added an RBI single for the G-Braves in the fourth inning.

Hernandez and Canizares each finished with two hits for Gwinnett.

Gwinnett visits Lehigh Valley at 7 p.m. tonight.
