Four Durham Bulls combined on a four-hit, 3-0 shutout win over the Gwinnett Braves on Monday in Durham.
Coming off a series win over Charlotte this weekend, the Braves (3-2) struggled offensively, striking out eight times and leaving seven runners on base.
Durham (4-0) got on the board in the bottom of the third when John Jaso singled in Reid Brignac, who doubled to right field.
In the fifth inning, Brignac’s triple to right drove in Jon Weber for the Bulls’ second run of the game.
Weber finished the scoring with an RBI single to right that scored Ray Olmedo.
Brignac finished the game 2-for-5, while Weber went 2-for-3.
Gwinnett was led by Alvin Colina and Diory Hernandez, who each went 1-for-3.
Todd Redmond picked up the loss for the Braves, going 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Gwinnett and Durham continue the four-game series at 7:05 tonight in Durham.
