East Hall grad heading overseas to play football

Patrick O’Neal, a 2004 East Hall High graduate, recently signed to play with the Berlin Adler of the German Football League.

O’Neal, a 6-foot-1 220 pound linebacker, played at Union College in Kentucky from 2004-2007 and had over 400 tackles as a four-year starter for Bulldogs. He was named an NAIA Scholar Athlete and was a Mid-South East first-team selection in his junior year. He currently holds the school’s single-game tackles record, with 20 on Sept. 1, 2007 against Cumberlands College. He also lead the team in tackles three consecutive seasons between 2004-2006.

After his college career, O’Neal became an assistant defensive coach and safeties coach for Union.

O’Neal’s new team in Berlin plays in the 11-team German Football League, the highest-level American football league in the country.

Regional events
